Born the son of a Scottish fighter pilot in Great Britain’s Royal Air Force, Clive Robertson waited close to 20 years to pursue the dream that had silently enticed him since he was a child.
As a military child, Robertson and his family were uprooted every three years or so when his father's post would change. "We were always moving," he explains, "but it did give me a chance to live in some interesting places, such as Singapore and Cyprus." From age eight until he was well into his teens, Robertson attended boarding school. When he was 15, his father died and he began to feel pressure to live up to his dad's significant success: "I was given all sorts of advice from people who, with the best intentions, pushed me towards a traditional career, and out of respect for them and my father, I went along with it," he recalls.
After earning his B.A. degree from the Oxford School of Business, he worked in marketing for more than a year before coming to the realization that he was unfulfilled with his career and lifestyle. He escaped to East Africa and it was there that he reassessed his life and the direction it was taking. When he returned to London, Robertson enrolled in drama school and has been working as a professional actor ever since.
Before his foray into U. S. Television, Robertson's credits were predominantly theater. He was in Wimbledon Open Air Theater's production of "As You Like It," Theatre Museum's "Breaking the Code" and the production of "The Wild Ass's Skin" at the Bridewell. Among his (British) Television credits were recurring roles in the British series "London Bridge" and the immensely popular police drama "The Bill." Robertson also appeared in the independent feature film "Before the Killing Starts" and the movie-of-the-week "Paparazzo
In September 1996, Robertson vacationed in Southern California with his then girlfriend, Libby Purvis (an Australian actress), and a chance introduction to her manager led to an audition for the Aaron Spelling daytime drama "Sunset Beach." He read for the show's casting director and a few weeks later, on only his second trip to America, Robertson moved to Los Angeles to assume his first U.S. role: Ben Evans, and later he took on the dual role of Derek Evans, Ben’s evil twin brother. "I came out here with no expectations," he explains, "and, as with most good things, this happened when I least expected it.”
It was his role as Ben/Derek which brought Clive many accolades and the adoration of fans from around the world.
In 2003 he took on another character, Travis Montana, in the sci-fi series Starhunter 2300.
Clive briefly returned to daytime, playing the role of record producer Simon Niles in General Hospital in 2004.
In 2006 his voice was heard, as Hova’s Wasp in the animated film The Ant Bully.
Clive is the main character, Captain John O’Neil in the video game Darkstar. Release date unknown.
Clive has once again returned to USA television. When he played the character Theodore Crawford in the limited series Wicked Wicked Games on the My Network TV channel.
Clive can be seen soon in the Showtime movie "Crazy Girls Undercover" playing the role of Damon
